Jonathan was born in South Africa and moved to Canada when he was six. Throughout his education, he excelled in the creative arts, which led to an Industrial Design diploma from the Ontario College of Arts and Design in 2004. In his final thesis year at OCAD, while working on a design concept for a kitchen appliance, he realized his real passion was food and cooking. This came as no real surprise to anyone, since Jonathan could already whip up mouth-watering dishes in no time having watched the Food Network channel for years.

Jonathan enrolled into the Chef Certificate diploma at George Brown College in Toronto, graduating with honours in 2005. There, he learned to appreciate the art of provincial French cuisine which greatly influenced his signature exuberant style of cooking. After graduating with Honours from George Brown, Jonathan honed his skills at a Mediterranean-style bistro where he moved to a Sous Chef position within a year.

Jonathan founded Jonathan Preskow Catering Inc. in mid-2006 to bring his exuberant touch to the personal and corporate market.
